Reviving Old Passions with NewTechnology

For five years now, I had been out of the world of blogging. But now I guess it's time to revive those old passions. And when we talk about reviving old passions, how can we forget about music!

So here I am, writing once again on my favourite topic "Music"!

It's amazing how technology has evolved in these five years. It's become so easy for the music lovers to listen to their favorite songs all the time with iPods and mobiles. And the best thing is you can also get to watch your favorite videos any time you want thanks to YouTube.

So here I am reaping the benefits of this ever evolving technology with my new N8. It was wonderful to know that I could download all of my favourite videos now, the ones for which I used to sit for hours in front of the TV just to get one glimpse. And now I can watch them as many times as I want. It feels so great!

Rang De Basanti.... A R Rehman creates the magic yet again!!

Frankly speaking, the first time I heard the title track of Rang De Basanti, I didn't find it too interesting. The only thing I liked was the piece of music..digidigidigidigidig..
But later, as I kept hearing it again and again...I started falling in love with it. But the real magic happened once "Pathshaala" started being aired. It was such a fun filled song...any one would surely love it.
Then came "Khalbali" and "Rubaroo" which were equally amazing. I also heard the other songs, but these four songs were the only ones I really liked, until...I actually saw the movie.
Once I saw the movie, all the songs started making sense all of a sudden. I must say, the songs really gel perfectly with the theme of the movie, and that is what makes this album so very special. These days, we have more of item numbers, wherein the song hardly has any relation with the story.
But for RDB, it's completely different. Even the lyrics of the songs are a part of the story. Take for instance "Luka Chupi"....it doesn't make much sense before...just looks like a normal lullaby. But imagine it been remembered by a mother during her son's cremation! It surely brings a tear to your eye, once you realize the depth and emotion in the situation....
The other song which makes so much sense, and has been picturized so perfectly is "Khoon Chala". It comes at a stage wherein the friends have awaken for the nation...and are willing to be rebels. The lyrics are so amazing....lemme put a few lines here...
"Kuch kar guzarne ko khun chala
Aakhon ke sheeshe me utarne ko khun chala
Badan se tapak kar, Zameen se lipat kar
Galiyon se raston se, Ubhar kar, Umad kar
Naye rang bharne ko khun chala khun chala....."
What an amazing piece of poetry yaar! It's really incredible.....and believe me, I didn't feel for it this way before I had seen the movie. But now when I hear this song, the whole scene just flashes before my eyes...
The only romantic number of the movie "Tu Bin Bataye" doesn't disappoint at all....infact, before seeing the movie, I didn't even realize it was a romantic number....but now...i just love it! Especially the lyrics....
"Tu bin bataye, Mujhe le chal kahin,
Jahan tu muskuraaye, Meri manzil wahin"
"Lalkaar" and "Ik Omkar", are just Ok, but the real highlight of the movie is "Roobaroo"......
It comes at a time when the group has been awakened completely and is prepared to make a difference. The lyrics completely justify this.....
Aye saala, abh abhi, hua yakeen,
Ke aag hai. mujhme kahin,
Hui subah, mai chal gaya
Suraj ko mai nigal gaya...
Roobaro roshni.....

Dhuan chata khula gagan mera
Nayi dagar naya safar mera
Jo ban sake tu humsafar mera
Nazar mila zaraa.....

Aandhyon se jhagad rahi hai lau meri
Ab mashalo se badh rahi hai lau meri
Namonishaan rahe na rahe
Ye karwaan rahe na rahe
Ujaale mai pee gaya
Roshan hua, jee gaya
Kyu sehte rahein...
It's a really inspirational movie, and so is the album! I just love A R Rehman for doing such a wonderful work yet again!!

AKSAR

Why is it that Mr. Imraan Hashmi always has the best music in all his movies? Be it Murder, Tumsa Nahi Dekha, Zeher, Aashiq Banaya Aapne, Chocolate or AKSAR?
I don’t know the answer, hopefully you do....
Anyways, I’m not here to discuss Imraan. It’s rather the music of AKSAR which I’m more interested in! I must say, Imraan is lucky yet again, ‘cause the music of AKSAR is really cool.

First is the hit “Ek Baar Aa Jaa”. The first time I heard this song, I just fell for it. It’s such a foot tapping number! I remember, on New Year eve, this was the song bomblasting from all loud speakers in my locality.

Then comes the romantic number “Lagi lagi lagi…Prem dhun lagi…” It has the sufiana feel to it and may be that why you’ll like it.

Another romantic number is “Soniye”. This one is really cute and I just love it! The lyrics are quite nice…

Tu hi tu hai meri manzil
Tu hi chahat me hai shamil
Kuch aisa keh do chahe dil
Tere bina meri subah nahi chalti
Tere bina meri shaam nahi dhalti
Tere Bina Meri raahein pighalti

Then comes my favourite “Jaana Pehchaniya”. It’s more of a dance number. But its lyrics are also good.

Mohabbat ki guzarish ho rahi hai
Tumhe pane ki koshish ho rahi hai
Jaana Pehchaniya Jaana Pehchaniya

Another dance number in the album is “Loot Jayenge”. The beats are pretty good and you wanna dance to “Rabba ve Rabba Khair kare” The lyrics are like this…

Zikr kare jo tera raat guzar jaati hai
Teri deewangi me
Umr guzarne ki raah nazar aati hai
Teri deewangi mein
Lut jayenge, mar jayenge
Tere bina tere bina…
Rabba ve rabba khair kare

So all in all, Aksar is a combination of romance and dance, and since those are the two things I like about music, it’s become my favourite. Hopefully, you’ll like it too…

Why I Love Socha Na Tha....

Kabhi Dil ke kareeb....
Tumhe mere Naseeb....
Yun layenge....
Socha Na tha....

Isn't that true for most of us.....
We all fall in love at least once...but do we ever know that in advance....
Very often it happens that you fall in love with the one person you never ever imagined you could...

Well, this is what "Socha Na tha...... " is all about.....

Socha Na Tha... happens to be one of the most romantic albums I've ever come across. The songs are so adorable, that you just can't help falling in love with them.

The Music of Socha Na Tha... is very melodious and romantic. The lyrics especially are just WOW!!!

Just take a look....

Mere Tumhara, Kya Rishta hai? Kuch Bhi Nahi....
Agar kabhi tum....guzarta dekho....
Kya tum mujhe bulaogi.....Shayad Nahi...
Agar jo fir hum, kabhi na mile to....
Kya tum yaad aaogi.....Nahi...
Kyunki Tum meri koi nahi......

Cool Na....amazing lyrics really.....many times we develop such relatioships with people we don't even know....especially our chat friends......so these lines go for all my chat friends, whom I haven't ever met!!!

Ik ajnabee se....itni na kee thi....baatein kabhi....
Jo chaha dil ne, Kehta gaya main,
Tumse koi bhi duri mujhe..lagi na kabhi......
Paas tumhare aaya tha kitne....Ye ehsaas ho raha hai mujhe....Abhi
Par tum meri koi nahi.....

Then there is this proposal song......really cute.....I wish someone would propose me with this one someday!!!

Mai seedhe saadhe dhang se...kehta hu apani baat...
Ik ghar basana chahta hu...Mai tumhare saath
Kya dogi..mere haathon mein...
Bolo tum apana haath..

And this one is the most romantic one....

O yaara rab....rus jaane de...
Deewana jag chhut jaane de..
Mai tera dil ban ke rahu...
Begaane dil tut jaane de...
Ab saathiya..nayi manzilein..
Naya rasta hai tumhara...humara...

This is what love is all about.....leaving everything for the one you love...isn't it?

So now you know why I love Socha Na Tha so much!!!!

Music is my Life

Music as we all know, is the food of life!

Have u ever imagined, if there weren't music in life.....what would life be? Well, I think there can be no life if there's no music....'cause for me...

Life itself is a SONG!

We all know the lyrics, but the tune is left to destiny!

Wow ! That was a beautiful thought...wasn't it? If you liked it...then I'd like to take the credit .... And if you didn't....then may be this blog wasn't meant for you...'cause all I'm gonna say here is how music became a part of my life...and continues to be so...

I don't remember the first song I heard in my life......but must've been the sweet lullaby of my mom.....possibly that's the reason why I can't still go to sleep without music.

During my childhood, whatever music I heard, was mostly the choice of others....my parents most of the times.....so all I heard as a kid were the Hindi Film songs....but those songs made such an impact, that I still like to hear them!

After that came the phase of Kishore Kumar and Baba Sehgal, thanks to my uncle who loved their music......

The first English song I liked, and after which I started listening to English music was the "Barbie Girl" by Aqua. I think I was around 12 or 13 that time and I still used to play with my dolls...so that's why I got interested in it. I used to spend hours watching MTV just to get a glimpse of this video....and in the process I got to hear even more English Songs.....the best amongst them was Backstreet's Back by Backstreet Boys. I managed to borrow these albums from my friend and after listening to BSB I just fell in love with them, "As Long As You Love Me" still continuing to be my favourite song.

The first time I ever bought a cassette on my own, as far as I can recollect was on my 14th B'Day......and ever since then..there's been no stopping.

My dad used to oppose my listening to western music, but somehow I just couldn't resist it....
So I spent all my pocket money in buying these cassettes secretly....it used to be a huge secret affair.....even my mom doesn't know about it.....

Meanwhile, I continued listening to Hindi music as well...that time the Indi POP scenario was at its best....I liked Lucky Ali, Shaan, Euphoria, Asha, Aryans, Shankar Mahadevan, Leslie Lewis, Shubha Mudgal etc....sorry I can't remember all....

So on all ocassions, my standard gift used to be an audio cassette....be it Raksha Bandhan, Bhai duj, Sindhara or even my B'day. Infact I used to gift cassettes to my bro on his b'day, even for my parent's anniversary and b'days..so basically....looking for a reason all the time ;) Ha Ha Ha

Then there was a slow down in the Indi Pop scenario, and the Hindi movie songs evolved....
My favourites were HDDCS, Taal, DCH, PKTDK, DDLJ, PMKK, APHG, KKHH, HDJPK, Refugee, Rules and the latest is SNT!

Are you confused with the abbreviations?

Ok, lemme elaborate! It goes like this... Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Dil Chahta Hai, Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Pyar Mein Kabhi Kabhi, Aur Pyar Ho Gaya, Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega, Socha Na Tha.

Do all these sound like the romantic types? Well that's what our Hindi Movies are about after all! But seriously......it's not only the romantic type of music that I like...infact, many times, it's only if the music can make me dance, that I will like it! My current favourite is AASMAA and the music on the show on Star One called "Remix". If you haven't heard it yet, do give it a try! I'm sure you'll just fall in love with the music!

So you see.....music is there in every part of our lives.....whether it be joy or sorrow, life or death, there's a song for everything.......and that's what is so adorable about music..... isn't it?

That's why I say "MUSIC IS MY LIFE"

I'd like to know your opinion about music and this post as well, hopefully I haven't bored you much....please do post your comments......
